Acquiring works from the Art for Afua site.

For those that could not come to our first event on 19.07.2014 but are still wanting to help Afua you can still acquire works via this site. 

New works will be posted. The works will be offered on a first come first serve base. If we get many emails offer for an item the first and the best one will be rewarded with the item.

The minimum amount should be any amount between the estimated value of the lot.

After you sent us your decision you will be required to transfer the total amount as soon as possible. Only after the donation is received you will be able to pick up or ship or your item.

You will have to pick the work at basis e.V. yourself in a future date. If you are not from frankfurt we will help you to ship your lot yourself. You will pay for the shipping.

If you wish to see the work before acquiring it you are more than welcome. Just send us an email or call us and we make an appointment for it.

'silent auction/stille auktion'

Kunst-Hilfsa(u)ktion im Künstlerhaus Basis e.V. für Afua

we are doing a 'silent auction/stille Auktion' to help Afua.
Afua is a 10 years old girl that I met through friends. She is suffering from a malignant tumor in her arm. Afua comes from Kumasi/Ghana. Not too longo ago, February 2014 to be more precise, her life was very normal, surrounded by loving family, friends and her community. After consulting the doctor, a good friend of the family, for a little injury in the upper arm which was thought as being only an all too common result of active play he discovered that it was not just a fracture but it was an aggressive and malignant osteosarcoma, or bone tumor. Her doctor in Kumasi, who has completed many years of his education as an orthopedist in Frankfurt, realized that Afua would not receive the required level of treatment in Ghana, and so brought her to Frankfurt. Immediate and aggressive Chemotherapy combined with radical resection surgery will likely give her a 75% chance of longterm survival. But rapid treatment is critical in saving her life.

The good news is that several doctors have already committed to providing their time and expertise pro-bono. The Booster Club of our Community “Aufbauverein Sachsenhäuser Bergkirche e.V.“ www.bergfoerdi.de, is coordinating a charitable donation drive as well. But she still need some help. That is why I decided to do this auction. All the proceeds from this event will go direct and oly to help Afua.

Silent auction is a variant of the English auction in which bids are written on a sheet of paper. At the predetermined end of the auction, the highest listed bidder wins the item. This auction is often used in charity events, with many items auctioned simultaneously and "closed" at a common finish time. The auction is "silent" in that there is no auctioneer selling individual items, the bidders writing their bids on a bidding sheet often left on a table near the item. At charity auctions, bid sheets usually have a fixed starting amount, predetermined bid increments, and a "guaranteed bid" amount which works the same as a "buy now" amount. Source wikipedia.

The way you could help is bidding on the several work of art that will be offered. All the money are taken as donations, which means you will be able to deduct it. If you would like to participate in the auction and can not be present you can bid online. The works will be presented here.
